Following the pattern established at the 19th European Scout Conference, and on behalf of the current European Scout Committee, we are launching the Open Call for those who wish to be considered for working to support the delivery of the Regional Scout Plan which will be adopted at the 21st European Scout Conference in Berlin, Germany.

We are very conscious that the working methods for the Regional Scout Plan have not yet been set, but as an attachment to this Conference Circular 6 (English, French), please find the Draft Regional Scout Plan, which was distributed at the beginning of July as Conference Document 3 (English,French). This is a distillation of the work, which took place at the 5th European Scout Symposium in Dublin, Ireland in April 2013.

The clear focus of the plan is on the two Strategic Objectives – Diversity & Inclusion and Youth Empowerment. In addition there will be 3 core groups supporting the areas of Educational Methods, Organisational Developmentand External Relations & Funding.

Alternatively, you may be interested in being a Global Support (formerly called Tailored Support) Consultant.

The Committee is keen to encourage volunteers from a wide range of backgrounds – age, gender, geography etc. to reflect the composition of the Region. It is not anticipated that volunteers will work in two areas as we recognise the pressures that this brings in balancing priorities. The application form is attached (English, French).

Deadline for receiving applications is on Monday, 9 September 2013 at the World Scout Bureau – European Regional Office, Geneva, preferably by email. Applications must be endorsed by the International Commissioner. If the International Commissioner is not available, then an alternative verifiable office bearer may be used.

To build on previous experiences, it is likely that there will be a selection process to put together the best possible team. Some of the selection may be by skype call or similar method. It is also likely that not all applicants will be selected and we feel that it is better to advise this from the start. Successful applicants and their NSOs will be advised as soon as possible after this date if they have been selected. It would help us greatly if applications are made in good time.

Youth in Free Initiative (YFI) association is looking for four volunteer from EU and SEE countries available for the period January 2014 – September 2014. Volunteers will take part in the long term EVS project: “Promoting voluntarism through youth participation” hosted and coordinated by YFI association in Kukes, Albania.

YFI is a local NGO that seeks to inspire individual and collective transformation to create positive social change. YFI foster and protects human rights with young people, promotes youth participation, voluntarism, gender issues, and youth activism fostering a culture that is rooted in self reflection, sensitivity and participation.

Volunteers will work in a combination of three different environments which consists of:

  • high schools;
  •  Social Service Center of Kukes Municipality;
  •  the host organization, YFI.

The biggest proportion of the volunteer’s time will be shared between Social service center and Hosting organization. The volunteers will be very welcomed to develop their own initiatives connected with youth people and children as well. Other activities will be proposed to the volunteers, in order to get them involved, such as; organizing intercultural evenings, presentations of their cultures and education system of their countries they come from.

Tasks

The main activities that EVS volunteers will carry out during the project are:

  • Helping in the elaboration and organization of public events and workshops of the hosting organization, especially regarding the communication, logistic and operational levels;
  •  Informing youngsters about existing opportunities of Youth in Action programme and other international exchanges;
  • Assisting social service center staff in organizing animations for children with disabilities;
  •  Promoting volunteering among young people in the region, through EVS experience and YiA programme.
  •  Assisting and facilitating outdoor activities of young people from high schools of Kukes region.
  •  Updating the website and social network of YFI association with new activity information and announcements.
  • Keeping contacts with international partner associations of YFI
  • Learning Albanian language and culture

Eligibility

  •  The ideal candidate should be a young and motivated enthusiast, open for new experiences in life interested in various topics related to youth participation, youth activism and social inclusion.
  •  Volunteers should be cheerful, serious, open-minded, patient, eager to learn a lot, but also ready for new friendships. They also should be responsible for their tasks, enjoy working as part of a team, taking initiatives, are excited about living in Albania and have good communication skills.
  •  Interested and willing to learn Albanian language
  •  He/she has to be capable to deal with situations where unconventional methods concerning integration and activation practices of the people who are suffering from social exclusion.
  • The call is open to the candidates from EU and SEE countries
  • Candidates should be between 18 and 30 years old in the moment of application.

Conditions

The EVS project will cover the following costs:

  • Accommodation
  • Food and pocket money
  • Travel costs – 90%
  • Health insurance – AXA
  • Visa costs

In cazul acestui proiect asociatia din Iordania va cumpara biletele de avion, iar voluntarii vor inapoia 10% din costul biletului cand ajung in Iordania.

EVS Project at Messzelátó Association, Budapest, Hungary
Messzelátó Egyesület would like to host 2 long term volunteers from September 2013 for a period of one year.
We would prefer to hire volunteers who speak proficient English and/or Hungarian.
Who we are?
Messzelátó Association, Hungary
Messzelátó Association was founded in 1999. Our goal is to realize a diverse, value-driven sustainable society based on cooperation and active communities.
The main focus of Messzelátó is ‘sustainable city life’ in which we aim to bring back sustainable methods to modern city peoples’ lives that are still used in rural areas. On our practical workshops we teach preparing our own soaps, cosmetics, bread, cheese, pasta etc. We use environmental friendly materials and also teach up-cycling garbage. We run national campaigns promoting eating seasonal, local, healthy food. We are interested in urban gardening: we are a part of a community garden, we teach balcony gardening and worm composting. We work with a wide range of groups from elementary students to elderly adult learners in our workshops.
We have 3 staff members, 40 active supporting members and more than 300 registered volunteers. We are a community that learns, thinks and acts together.
Application process:

  • Fill in our form. We don’t want you to write a motivation letter – please put down all your motivation to this form!
  • Instead of a regular CV we prefer you make a video or a Prezi about yourself. We ask you to send their links in the above mentioned application form. (For another project we created some guides for our favorite online tools: Prezi and PicMonkey. You find them attached to this page.)

Volunteer tasks
Here we describe what usually a volunteer can be assigned to in our project. This is a kind of menu – when starting the project we consult with the volunteer what is his/her interest, which tasks would he/she want to take. So please look at this list as a list of opportunities and tell us in your application what you would be interested in and why you would be good at it! If you have your own project idea, tell us too!

  • He/she can be responsible for the content of the organisation’s webpage/Facebook page/green newsletter and blog writing, helps in office administrational work and offers support to our coordinators in planning and realising green communication campaigns.
  • He/she can be responsible for assisting the organisation in on-going workshops and the educational projects of the association, and helps in making new workshops related to sustainable urban living. She/he can participate in our educational program that includes giving lectures and imparting training in environmental fields.
  • The volunteer can be also included in the Association’s day to day work and has also the possibility to join the other projects of Messzelátó about which further details can be found on the above mentioned webpages.
The chosen volunteers should be able to develop project ideas and coordinate his/her own projects. They should be available to EVS for one year starting from September 2013. It is an added advantage should you have experience in these fields, should you be good in computer graphics (if you can edit website or brochures by using Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign or other relevant programs) and/or should you be able to organize projects on your own and possess some knowledge about community media, and in writing newsletters and articles.
We would be nore happier should you be fond of gardening and/or hiking.

The first Training workshop for online volunteers will be on 15-16 April 2013, European Youth Centre Budapest.

The Youth Department of the Council of Europe calls upon young human rights and online activists interested to act as volunteer activists in our online campaign against hate speech to read and apply for this unique opportunity! The campaign is based on a European platform and programme of activities run by the Youth Department of the Council of Europe. The online volunteers are activists with special competencies and role for the online Campaign platform and tools. They are key actors in the campaign, particularly in the European and national aspects. They are the ones to shape and build the online community and to ensure the content of the online platform.

Profile of the volunteer:

· Good command of English or French;
· Age between 18 and 30 years;
· Motivated to take part as a volunteer in the Campaign;
· Competence and experience in online youth work (web 2.o, social media,
etc);
· Good understanding of hate speech and understanding of the human
rights framework in which the campaign takes place;

· Be available to attend the training course for online volunteer activists planned for 15-16 April 2013 in European Youth Centre Budapest.

The online volunteers role will be to:

  • create and maintain an active community around the platform and the campaign through reach-out initiatives to young people through online and offline means;
  • support the community to feed-in content on the platform, as it is very much user-focused, and work with the content provided;
  • develop and plan the monthly focus of the content;
  • develop, plan and implement the European Action Days together with the staff of the campaign, the partners mobilised for each action;
  • facilitate the online community and in coordination with the Online community manager solve any problems that might occur;
  • support the development of tools and of the platform and campaign in general;
  • liaise with national campaign committees, in supporting them with training, customisation of platform to national needs, linking the debates at national level with the ones at European level and ensuring communication and mutual support.
  • Equally they will liaise with youth organisations and young people.

The training workshop aims to support the group of online volunteer activists of the campaign to develop their competences in managing the platform of the campaign, to get to know each other, learn about the campaign and plan their work together. The training workshop will have a hands-on approach and will be a first step in the organisation of work to be done together. The selected participants will also have the chance to identify further learning needs that can be addressed via different online means of learning or potential meetings. The training workshop is organised on non-formal education approaches and will feature a high level of participation and interactivity. A team of trainers, facilitators and experts will lead the training course.

Volunteer work recognition and financial conditions for the training course
The work done by the volunteers will be recognised through volunteer certificates and other letters of support issued by the Council of Europe. Visual identity for the volunteers will be created for the platform and other social media channels to be used.
Travel, board and lodging costs for the training course for volunteers is paid for by the Council of Europe. Board and lodging will be provided in the European Youth Centre Budapest. Visa costs and support in obtaining visa to travel is also provided by the Council of Europe.

Segovia-Spain-5We are looking nowadays for our next volunteers; we intend to host 6 volunteers who will start in October 2013 until July 2014 (10 months). Please, be aware that due to the characteristics of the project we are not flexible with the dates, so make sure the proposed dates and duration suits you.

URGENT: Call for EVS for approved project,Lovech,Bulgaria- 1 martie – 1 decembrie

evs bulgariawe need one volunteer for approved project “Volunteer Initiatives in Lovech – 2”. The main objective of the project is related to enhancement local community’s capacity for implementation of youth volunteer initiatives at local and international level. The project will be implemented in the town of Lovech, Bulgaria. EVS volunteers will help Ecomission team in daily administrative activities, organizing events, developing new projects and initiatives with their fresh ideas. We expect from them to present native traditions and culture through organizing national eves and developing local youth interests in introducing new cultures. We expect their own creative, artistic, sport ideas for activities directed to local youth and etc. THE PROJECT WILL LAST 9 MONTHS 1ST MARCH-1ST DECEMBER, 2013

Asociatia Regionala pentru Dezvoltare Rurala are un numar de 3 locuri disponibile  pentru un stagiu de voluntariat cu o durata de 7 luni incepand cu data de 1 mai 2013. Este vorba despre un proiect EVS care se va desfasura in cadrul a  doua organizatii, una din Brazilia si cea de-a doua din Argentina, pentru Brazilia fiind disponibil un loc iar pentru Argentina 2 locuri.
Tema proiectului “WAVE 2” este tineretul si interactiunea cu tinerii localnici, pentru dezvoltarea acestora. Activitatile sunt diverse si se vor decide impreuna cu coordonatorii proiectului din cele 2 tari, putand varia de la promovarea oportunitatilor europene, la informare, lectii de limba

The Ethnographic Museum of Istria is pleased to invite all young students of anthropology, ethnology, sociology, media and other social and humanities sciences to join in making the 5th International Ethnographic film festival –ETNOFILm in Rovinj, Croatia (24.-27.4.2013). ETNOFILm Festival is a platform for the promotion of ethnographic film and the system of categorization of the films in the competition is indicative of Festival’s diversity. On one hand, a production of ethnographic film is encouraged in the strictest disciplinary sense of the word – meaning films whose authors are trained ethnologists/anthropologists – and on the other hand, the Festival also affirms non-disciplinary films and a heterogenic approach to the filed.

Responsibilities of volunteers

Organizers are looking for a small but motivated group of both local and international volunteers to help out during the festival by:

  • Promoting the festival in Rovinj during the festival (handing out flyers and working at the information and sales point (selling promotional material from the festival – bags, T-shirts, postcards, badges)
  • Assisting with the hospitality of our guests (jury members and participating authors)
  • Working at the entrance of the screenings (greeting the audience, making sure the doors are open and closed on time, assisting the technical and organization teams)
  • Assisting with the accompanying Photo Exhibition
  • Generally helping out with the day to day logistics of the festival
  • Having fun and enjoying some great documentaries
